This is the third year that we will be growning onions on a ‘suck it and see’ basis – so far so good!

This year we have 10 hectres of onions in production – a  mixture of sets (variety Boga) and drilled (variety Hylander).

Both varieties appear to have excellent resistance against downey mildew.

Both have yielded well, mainly due to the south facing aspect of the field which, as well as the varietal resistance, has helped with the control of downey mildew.
